Movement 25: Extracting the Silk

A: Title

The Movement of Extracting the Silk.

B: Methods

1. The feet align with the edges of outer shoulders. Stand straight. Lift your right hand on the front right of your chest. Where the right palm leans down slightly, the index finger and the thumb are opened as the form of a splayed arch. The other three fingers are stretched out, too. The splayed arch is toward the front right of your chest.

In addition, lift your left hand on the front left of your chest. Where the left palm leans down slightly, the index finger and the thumb are opened as the form of a splayed arch. The other three fingers are stretched out, too. The splayed arch is toward the front left of your chest.

The ten fingers of two hands also take the form of a splayed arch, too. The two palms are opposite to each other before the front chest. The elbows fall down slightly. The eyes look ahead. See Picture 24. Then your two hands draw out toward the left side and right side respectively and simultaneously. It is in a form of extracting silk. The hands draw out toward the shoulders as possible as you can. However, you should not apply any force, but draw out relaxedly and softly.

2. Extracting the silk should be accompanied by internal respiration. That is, this movement does not sound out Heng and Ha. But it takes internal respiration.

3. It is internal inhaling, while leading the Chi from your lower abdomen to the place between the breasts, and drawing out your hands toward your shoulders. It is internal exhaling, while taking back your hands to the front of your chest. An internal breath consists of one internal inhaling and one internal exhaling. It takes nine internal breaths.

4. You can feel the palms are connected by something gradually after drawing silk for a long time. Tao should be taken by exercising for a long time and you can have self-enlightenment.

5. While exercising the movement, you should not hear falsely, in which somebody said that there are talented guys in the East mountain and immortals in the West mountain. All in all, a peaceful mind can treat hundreds of diseases, and replenishing the Chi can treat all deficiencies. An ancient famous saying said that the Chi is deepening with a quiet body, and the flow is deepening with quiet water. Said nowadays, calisthenics is an exercise of respiration.
