Movement 18: Seizing Flag  (Left)

A: Title

The Movement of Seizing Flag (Left).

B: Methods

  1. The feet return to their original status. The right foot moves back aligned with the edges of outer shoulders. The arms hang down beside the legs. It is similar to the form of the Preliminary Movement. Then the right leg takes a diagonal bracing step while the right leg is straight and relaxed.  Squat or sit down on your left leg 45 or 25 degrees. The front right toes aligned with the right heel upright. The rear left toes aligned with the left heel upright or leaned slightly. The chest is widened in the level without being concave or convex. Hold back your tailbone. The eyes look ahead horizontally.
  2. Lift up your left hand above the shoulders while the left palm is outward, five fingers stretch out, and the left elbow is in the zigzag form. The left elbow is above the shoulders. The left hand back is turned toward the left shoulder while the left palm toward outside. At the same time, lift up the right arm with bowing the elbow slightly in front of the chest. The right palm is upward. Five fingers of the right hand are stretched out. The fingers and palm are at the same level. The right arm is like the inverted zigzag form. The right hand raises up and seizes an invisible flag toward the left side accompanied by the left hand. Then the right elbow is closed to the chest while the fingers face the chest and the palm is turned upward. In the meantime, the body turned toward the left side 90 degrees while the chin is opposite to the left shoulder. The chin being opposite to the shoulder can relax the waist axle thoroughly and have fantastic achievement by then. The fourth way in the Five Ghosts Making Troubles of Tungpichung has a movement of Waist Turning of White Ape, which has the same effect and is called the Spine Turning Method. In this movement, it is called the Wasit Turning Calisthenics. This movement should also take Heng Ha Calisthenics, which is like pulling out the silk and seizing a flag gradually. If exercisers understand this fantastic movement, it gets into the state of heart to heart. Otherwise, please do not criticize it unreasonably. Then you take the real martial ethics. The waist leads to seizing the flag away while sounding Heng and Ha. See Picture 19.
