Movement 24: Head Raising and Lowering

A: Title

The Movement of White Horse Raising Head, or The Movement of White Horse Raising and Lowering Head, in the short title as The Movement of Raising Head, or The Movement of Head Raising and Lowering.

B: Methods

The feet align with the edges of the inner shoulders (armpits). The waist makes a big bending for 90 degrees while the two legs stand still straight. The upper body is bent downward while the head is raised up. While in the bending, the arms hang down vertically toward the ground. The fingers are stretched out, the eyes look ahead, and the arms hang down under the knees. See Picture 23. In exercising this movement while keeping the posture of squatting the waist, sound Heng for inhaling while raising the head and sound Ha for exhaling while lowering the head. It takes 10 seconds for a round of Heng and Ha. You should take 3 times (rounds) and take 30 seconds in total. This movement belongs to one of the Back and Kidney Calisthenics.

C: Notes

The two kidneys are allocated on the back (waist) aside, separately. It is hard to exercise the kidneys generally. The big bending of the upper body can make the waist and kidneys form a flat curve. While raising the head and sounding Heng, the Chi moves from the spine and backs into the kidneys. It can vibrate the kidneys slightly. The two kidneys also, called internal kidneys, are in the position opposite to the front navel, in the back of the waist, and are aside the spine bones. The two kidneys opposite each other are in the form of walnut and in the color of reddish brown. The function of kidneys is to filter the wastes out from the urine. The testicles are called external kidneys, which is in contrast to the internal kidneys. This movement is suitable to sustain and strengthen the kidneys. This movement belongs to the Back and Kidneys Calisthenics. It has good effects. After exercising this movement, return to the form of Preliminary Movement.
