Appendix I: The unit design of Waitankung instructions
A: Emphases
- Describe the basic methods for exercising Waitankung.
- Correct the exercising faults.
- Describe the needs of endurance and exercising degrees or levels.
- Enjoy the performance of Waitankung to promote the exercising interest for middle and old-aged people.
- Describe the procedures of 12 movements of Waitankung.
- Report exercising experiences and study each other to promote exercising interest mostly.
B: The teaching and research
- Waitankung is an exercising method for physical and mental health by ancient consecrating people. It can make the body and spirit easy and smooth. It also can make your arms and legs agile. Waitankung is suitable for middle and old-aged people to practice.
- It is not limited to the field size and the time while exercising the Waitankung. You can exercise the Waitankung on a little space of ground in your leisure time. You should keep on exercising in Waitankung and will take the real benefit after one hundred days.
- You should stand up while exercising Waitankung. You should clear your mind and make your heart peaceful without any idea. The real Chi, ie. Original Chi, in your body will be activated by then to pass through your whole body. It can get rid of your diseases and win the victory. However, you should have to see a doctor while you get ill.
- The Original Chi of Waitankung will start to move from the stillness. It then can circulate your energy and blood smoothly. It also can make your internal organs easy and comfortable and make joints of the whole body harmonious. The whole body can not only be stable, but also you can get longevity.
- You should stand up while exercising Waitankung. It can make your arms and legs move smoothly. It can get rid of the condensation, stagnation, and congestion of your internal organs and to get them smoothly. It can open your chest and get rid of depression. It can make your emotions happy by delimiting your sadness and worries. Waitankug can make your body healthy and happy.
- Waitankung emphasizes self-enlightenment. That your heart can get critical points and understandings. It takes the method of instruction by one day and self-enlightenment by six days. You should practice self-enlightenment by yourself. After getting your key experiences by heart, you can really understand the saying of "A person that is born to know is in a higher position."
- Exercising Waitankung is in groups or teams. It takes the system of group counseling and collective correction.
- In the system of group exercising, it sets up a demonstrator, an expositor or interpreter, and several rectifiers in lines for correcting the ways of exercising. They all represent the team spirit.
- Before starting group exercising, it could select excellent exercisers without limiting the number of persons to make demonstrations, which can increase the learning interest.
- Waitankung with 12 movements is a kung fu by slowly exercising. The teaching of Waitankung should be promoted gradually. The time and lessons should not be hard regulated. It is reliable to adjust the time and lessons by couches depending on field conditions.
- The function of Waitankun can promote the 8 extraordinary meridians to circulate unobstructedly and open the 12 primary meridians unrestrainedly. It makes the Chi or energy without condensation and stagnation and makes the blood without congestion. Therefore, the teaching cases about the extraordinary and primary meridians in Waitankung exercising can not be edited correctly by only allocating the time and lessons. However, it should provide the case studies or exercising reports as reference materials.
- Someone says that the Original Chi of Waitankung seems to like nuclear atoms in science with strong forces. This expression of the Original Chi like nuclear atoms still needs the verification by experts and should take the attitude of talking and listening merely.
C: The instruction procedures
- The teaching material should be designed by containing the following units, (1) Unit objectives, (2) Exercising goals, (3) Teaching activities, (4) Teaching resources, and (5) Time allocation. This teaching material should be edited by yourself and to be used as the teaching reference. You can refer to the shuttlecock material of the folk sport while designing the teaching materials for Waitankung exercising.
- Waitankung contains 12 movements. One lesson should be taught in a week. Four lessons are taught in 4 weeks. The 12 movements should be taught within 4 months. Therefore, there are 16 lessons for 12 Waitankung movements to be taught within 4 months. Then it needs 800 minutes to accomplish the teaching of 12 Waitankung movements, while 800 minutes are calculated by multiplying 50 minutes of each lesson by 16 lessons. If it does not care about the teaching activities followed by the allocation of time and lessons, it is also a good way to regard these activities only as the body workouts for the middle and old-aged people.
